Joyce Norfolk
Animal Artist

Joyce Norfolk is a self-taught artist living in Lynden, Washington with her husband Sid, their two cats Chevy and Hot Rod, and their lab Diamond.  Her most popular medium is colored pencil, although she occasionally works in pen and ink, and watercolor.

Joyce was born in Long Beach, California, and raised in Southern California. She majored in Veterinary Sciences at California Polytechnic College (CalPoly) Kellogg Campus in Walnut, California.  After a brief career as a Veterinarian Technician, she enlisted in the Marine Corps, served for 21 years, and retired in 1993.  After her retirement, she took an art course at Mohave Community College, Lake Havasu, Arizona where she discovered her talent.  She has always had a passion for animals and an interest in art, so it was only natural that she elected to draw animals.

Joyce is a member of the Colored Pencil Society of America (CPSA), and plans to submit her drawings for consideration in the CPSA national art show, as well as several other juried shows in 2004.
